There isn’t a better baby monitor being sold. It is a great improvement over the previous model and 1/2 the price. No Interference at all and plenty of Volume.

I had to return this item because I couldn’t hear my son over the speaker. My son doesn’t cry when he wakes up, and it seems that is the only sound this monitor will pick up. This monitor was excellent because it didn’t pick up any interference at all, but I need to be able to hear my baby. I was incredibly disappointed, and returned it after two days of receiving it.

I’m really happy with this monitor!! After suffering for 5 months with a VERY noisy/static safety first monitor and asking in many stores which was “less” noisy and they would tell me “NO ONE is really quite”. The Philips Avent IS!! very quite, small and picks up baby’s “noises” very quick…
I would recommend this to everybody… specially if you have a place full of electronics that can make interference.it is a little pricey, but it works
    Absolutely love it!!!!

This is a fantastic monitor! We can hear her breathing from the other room with it. There is no static and no noise interfering. I love the portable receiver with belt clip. I can go outside to water the dogs or cook dinner without worrying about if I can hear the baby or carrying the monitor.

As the caregiver for an elder who’s recovering from stroke, I need to monitor her condition constantly — a difficult task when you’re also taking care of additional household responsibilities. When I found this monitor offered DECT technology, I jumped on it because I’ve been very pleased with the quality of sound from my DECT wireless phones.

This wireless monitor is just as good as my phones. I keep the parent monitor with me at all times, and I’m able to hear the smallest sounds from my elder’s room. Add to this that I’m able to talk to her even though I’m somewhere else in house or yard — just what I needed!

Setup was quick and easy. I charged the parent monitor overnight, installed lithium batteries in the baby monitor, and I was ready to go. The two monitors linked up immediately.

This monitor solves my problem and gives me peace of mind. Excellent product, Philips!

Nothing irks me more than this supposed “baby monitor”. Because isn’t the point of a baby monitor to monitor babies? Not to work sometimes, if the moon and stars are aligned perfectly, and work only when it feels like working. Not to beep endlessly and flip channels until I want to pull my hair out and throw the thing against the wall, not necessarily in that order.

Now when this monitor works, it works well - it picks up every little sound clearly and I can hear my babies the instant they wake up. I rarely hear static. Despite other reviews, it has a long battery life (7-8 hours). I have twins, and set up this monitor in two different rooms so that I can hear the babies whether they are napping together or separately. I rarely remove the receivers from their battery chargers; they just sit in my office where I’m working, which is incidentally 15 feet from either baby. Since nothing moves, you’d think I’d only have to set it up once and be done, yes?

Not even close. What usually happens is one of two things:

One, it will lose a frequency and search for a signal. It does this whether I’m on the other end of the house or in the next room. It loses a signal at least twice per day. Then it starts endlessly beeping, during which I begin to imagine drop-kicking this monitor across several blocks and into the freeway, where it gets run over again and again by a convoy of tractor trailers.

Two, it will flip channels so that it’s suddenly monitoring the same room as the other device, and now one baby is out of communication. It doesn’t matter that the switch is set to “room 2″, because it’s now monitoring room 1. I have no warning this has happened, no beeps or even a flashing light, so unless I’m within earshot and hear her crying, that baby is out of luck should she need attention. This happens at least once every other day, so I simply don’t go out of earshot anymore. To which I wonder, why have a baby monitor at all? It’s only out of morbid curiosity I keep it plugged in.

I will try to reset the frequency (which you do by clicking buttons which also beep maddeningly) but usually this doesn’t work, and it continues to beep. I am actually surprised this monitor hasn’t yet been embedded in my wall.

Maybe today will be the day.

We have this monitor which is why I am searching for a new monitor. All in all it’s not a bad monitor. It picks up our son’s whimpers. It does have some static which does not bother us but for people who need quiet to sleep it may. Our issue is the battery life when the monitor is off the charger. There is no way the monitor can be off the charger for more than a couple of hours. We feel attached to an outlet when the baby is sleeping. Coincidentally we are probably going to go with another Graco model.

We initially LOVED this monitor, but now, they don’t seem to have the range they did at first. We constantly have to move it or adjust it in order to keep it functioning and not “beeping” at us. Very annoying. Not sure why the problem - they are 2 1/2 years old so may just have worn out, but I sure wish they worked as well as they did when we first bought them. I hate to have to throw them out!

We have had two sets of these (returned the first one after a few months). Each performed beautifully for about three months. We kept the monitors in the base for recharging the vast majority of the time. Slowly, each set began getting worse and worse reception until neither would make a connection unless you held it at a certain angle, in a certain direction, without anyone moving in the room! Too bad, because it really did work well initially.

When I got this, it was a new product and had great reviews. Well, problems surface over time with this junk. I needed something with long range to accomodate our 6,000 square feet ranch. This works ok around the house, but I will get out of range once in a while even when unit is sitting still and nothing moves in front of it. Our child is in the family bed so we only use it for naptimes. Thank goodness. If I had to use it at night, this would be in the trash by now. All the snap, cracle and pop and occasionally beeping out of nowhere, how can people take that in the middle of the night? To adjust the volume you have to push on the button which beeps with each push with the same volume frequency. Yes, it is very loud. And the rechargable batteries? Great thought, but these things don’t hold any charge. After one year of using it for couple hours a day, it holds charge for about 1 hour. Thank goodness I have two units and can take the other one when first one dies. Replacement batteries not available anywhere that I could find. even our battery store couldn’t help and I refuse to buy anymore products from Graco regarding this monitor. They already stole my money for it in the first place. What a junk. This was the WORST baby expense I have made. Honestly. I absolutely hate this monitor but suffer with it for the naps. Baby is growing up and soon this junk will go in the junk.

I love gadgets so was excited to purchase this monitor. And when it arrived I was delighted. Very compact - tons of great features - love the fact I could talk to my daughter. BUT - one very basic flaw - the sound on the parent unit is WAY TOO LOW. My husband was putting my daughter down to bed and she was having a temper tantrum because she didn’t want to go - and I could hardly hear it. If I was asleep - forget it. Save your money. Avent worked on cool features, which are great, but in my opinion they need to work on the basic “you can hear your baby” feature.

At first (as a tech-geek) I thought I needed to have a video monitor for my new (first) baby. I took the “of course I need that” approach, but decided to read through a bunch of review sites (including Amazon) to see what other parents were buying. I am glad I chose this one instead of paying a ton for the video monitor.

The sound quality of this monitor is spectacular. I hear absolutely NO interference with anything. I have a wireless G network, two cell phones, and two cordless phones (1 is 2.4ghz; 1 is 900mhz) in my house. The range is also spectacular inside my house, I have yet to hear even a crackle of static or noise. I really like that it has music built in, actually very soothing for my son while we rock him in our glider (however, there aren’t many songs so you hear the same songs quite often). I also love the fact that I can tell the temperature in his room to make sure it’s not too hot/cold. The light on it is not very helpful.

The downside I’ve found so far is that the battery life on the monitor is pretty short, so I find myself keeping it on the charging base quite often. Other than that, we love this product. The only other thing I’d like to see is the ability to turn on the music from the remote monitor, but not a big deal.

Oh and one last feature my wife and I love is that it is also a 2-way intercom, so when one of us is in the nursery with the baby we can talk to the other person and they can talk back. Great when we need something from downstairs while rocking the baby.

This monitor works so well. It works so well that you can hear our child breathing at night but, there is NEVER any static!!

I must say this product is top notch. We are amazed at the optional it comes with (3 different Lullabies, temperature notification etc…). Most importantly it work perfectly as a monitor as it only transmits when there is sound in the room, getting rido of any static noise. Highly recommended! The only reason I don’t give it full stars is that it does not have an option for Celsius temperature reading and only come in Fahrenheit and living abroad we have to calculate the temperature.
