We purchased this monitor based on the feedback from others.
The price was great and we have used the monitor for 3 months.
Unfortunately the plug in charger pin snapped off in the baby monitor, making it impossible to charge the monitor and render the unit useless. I was disappointed with the quality of the charger and how weak the charging pin was. I know this unit is cheap, but I would have expected a more rugged adapter.
As I was disappointed with the quality I was wanting a replacement, but wasnt confident that this would happen. I spoke to Amazon who instructed me to call the manufacturer Saftey First. I called Safety First and their response was excellent. They arranged for FedEx to collect the monitor, in order for their quality team to look at the monitor and shipped me a replacement unit free of charge.
For a monitor at this price point I would definately recommend it, especially as it is backed up by great customer service from Safety First.

This is a fantastic monitor! We can hear her breathing from the other room with it. There is no static and no noise interfering. I love the portable receiver with belt clip. I can go outside to water the dogs or cook dinner without worrying about if I can hear the baby or carrying the monitor.

I had to return this item because I couldn’t hear my son over the speaker. My son doesn’t cry when he wakes up, and it seems that is the only sound this monitor will pick up. This monitor was excellent because it didn’t pick up any interference at all, but I need to be able to hear my baby. I was incredibly disappointed, and returned it after two days of receiving it.

As the caregiver for an elder who’s recovering from stroke, I need to monitor her condition constantly — a difficult task when you’re also taking care of additional household responsibilities. When I found this monitor offered DECT technology, I jumped on it because I’ve been very pleased with the quality of sound from my DECT wireless phones.
This wireless monitor is just as good as my phones. I keep the parent monitor with me at all times, and I’m able to hear the smallest sounds from my elder’s room. Add to this that I’m able to talk to her even though I’m somewhere else in house or yard — just what I needed!
Setup was quick and easy. I charged the parent monitor overnight, installed lithium batteries in the baby monitor, and I was ready to go. The two monitors linked up immediately.
This monitor solves my problem and gives me peace of mind. Excellent product, Philips!

I’m really happy with this monitor!! After suffering for 5 months with a VERY noisy/static safety first monitor and asking in many stores which was “less” noisy and they would tell me “NO ONE is really quite”. The Philips Avent IS!! very quite, small and picks up baby’s “noises” very quick…
I would recommend this to everybody… specially if you have a place full of electronics that can make interference.it is a little pricey, but it works
Absolutely love it!!!!

There isn’t a better baby monitor being sold. It is a great improvement over the previous model and 1/2 the price. No Interference at all and plenty of Volume.

I should preface this by saying we live in a 1450 sq. foot condo.
I first tried the First Alert. Too much noise static. Then we got the Summer Infant with 2.5″ screen. It was defective from the get-go.
We have had no static or interference with the Safety first. You need a lot of light to see the image in color, but that’s really not important to me.
It goes into “sleep” mode, where the image blanks out and comes on when my daughter makes noise (or when I manually turn it back on). This feature didn’t even work on the previous monitors I tried.
Our condo is small, but we are upstairs and our daughter is downstairs and we get a clear picture through a ceiling and several walls.

We’ve had our Safety 1st digital monitor for about 2 months now. The most difficult part is really reading the directions, and learning how to set the monitor so the baby’s image is on the screen 100% of the time–if that’s indeed what you want. Admittedly, we had to call tech support to figure out how to use the monitor like we wanted. In other reviews, so many folks complain about the logo coming up before the baby’s image, but they don’t realize that’s an energy-saving feature (the image can stay on 5, 15, or 25 seconds, then it blacks out, and turns to sound-only). You can turn this feature OFF so that the baby’s image is up on the screen all the time, without having to press the “View” button to see the baby again. Of course leaving the image on 100% of the time means the battery runs out sooner if you use the monitor cordless, but big deal–if we have it on for hours, we just plug it in wherever we are in the house. We’ve found this monitor to be great because it’s small, portable, has great reception, and a clear image. You can also add additional cameras, if you have multiple children in different rooms. Because we’ve had a good experience with it, I’ve recommended this monitor to several friends. Safety 1st should update their product directions, so that people understand they can turn the energy-saving feature off, but their tech support was very friendly and helpful when we called.

Instruction manual not included and only available through website or via phone with cutomer service.Would send it back if i could - i don’t know how well it works as it was a baby gift and i have been spending the past few days trying to get and instruction manual from the manufacturer. Website not helpful…neither is their customer service…

Ive been threw 3 video monitors and this one is by far the best one. The video has great quality, the sound works really good (no interference so far)the only bad thing is the screen is small, but worth having because it works so great. I love it! Great monitor and would recommend it to anyone. Don’t waste your time on other monitors, try this one first:) oh and I am on my computer with the monitor on and I am not having any problems with wifi.

This timer was incredibly helpful when we brought my daughter home from the hospital. I was out of it, recovering from a long labor and emergency c-section, and the baby was being cared for by me, my husband, and my mom. This timer gave me some sense of sanity just in knowing what was going on, especially with three caregivers. The extra timer was useful when the baby was on medication for thrush.
As the weeks have gone by, I’ve used it less and less, but it’s still helpful for seeing when I started a feeding or exactly how long the baby’s been asleep. I also use the night light; it’s perfect for giving just enough illumination for night feedings.

I bought this product after using a written baby journal for over a month. It is quick and easy to use. Perfect for those nights when the baby wakes you up & you can’t remember when you last changed his diaper and what side to breastfeed on!

I really wanted one of these when I had my second daughter. I thought how neat because you can keep track of everything so easily…but I opted not to buy one for myself because when I had heard about it my daughter was already 6 weeks old and I was in a pretty good routine. I then decided I had to buy one for a friend who was about to have a baby! She loved it. Great because you can tell when the baby last peed or was fed. Things you think “how will I forget this” but when push comes to shove and you’ve just had a baby its hard remembering what day it is sometimes! Great product! Buy it for yourself or a friend! And bring it to the hospital!!! If you start off using it I can see you using it for quite awhile…but if you wait like how I did…probably not worth it if you’re already in a good routine. Get it early!

My brother got us a couple of these timers for our twins, telling us that a friend of his called it the single greatest gift he and his wife had received for their baby. My wife and I accepted them graciously, although my wife was a little skeptical that something so simple could be useful at all. She also believed it would probably be a ridiculous hassle to have to keep up with the gadget and click it every time a diaper was changed, a baby was fed, etc. Why not just use a pen and notebook?
Then the babies were born and we were tossed into the whirlwind, and sure enough, the Itzbeens were somehow right there in our hands whenever we fed, changed, or medicated. They have really kept our sanity, and have been one of the few products (other than bouncy seats and coffee) that have done so. It really is so ridiculously simple that it seems too good to be true. But it isn’t. When you feed your baby, you click the button with the bottle icon on it. When you change ‘em click the diaper button. Etc. for the sleep or “miscellaneous” button–can be used for whatever you want it to be.
So, the baby wakes you up at Oh-Dark-Thirty AM, and in your slumbering stupor, you’re trying to figure out why your baby (babies, in our case) could be crying. Certainly, you just fed him or her a few minutes ago. So you grab his/her itzbeen (We have one for each baby and they’re color-coded.), look at the numbers beside each button, and see that ITZBEEN 3:25 (three hours, twenty-five minutes) since you’ve fed the little tax-deduction and 4:00 (four hours) since you changed him/her, so take your pick, you’ve got work to do. It beats the heck out of using a stopwatch or notepad, as you may have other notepads to keep up with or just don’t want to waste paper (Itzbeen good for the environment, too.). It’s also cool that all the buttons and displays light up, it has an LED flashlight built in, it has a button lock switch and a sound on/off switch, and a little toggle to keep up with which breast was used during the last feeding if you’re nursing. You can even set up an alarm to go off every X-amount of hours or whatever, if you’re into alarms to remind you of what you’ve got to do.
A truly amazing product! I’m so glad we got it.

The whole point of this item is to feed and change your baby BEFORE they start to cry. No one enjoys hearing a child crying. I used this consistently for the first 8 months of my babies life and it was a freaking life saver!
Yes you could wait until your baby cries for food, or cries for a change, or you can look at the timer, realize that 2 hours and 50 minutes have gone by, and your baby wants to eat by the 3 hour mark, you can get the bottle ready BEFORE they fuss, and give it to them. Instead of holding an infant in one hand while prepping a bottle.
Same goes for diapering- you can change them BEFORE they get fussy from being wet.
THe sleep one was also useful because if you are wanting for your infant to sleep through the night, you will want to limit their daytime naps.
For those of us that value a schedule and value a good nights sleep, get this! You can truly arrange for your babies schedule to follow yours with this, otherwise, pen and paper for you if you even manage to write it all down.

I love gadgets so was excited to purchase this monitor. And when it arrived I was delighted. Very compact - tons of great features - love the fact I could talk to my daughter. BUT - one very basic flaw - the sound on the parent unit is WAY TOO LOW. My husband was putting my daughter down to bed and she was having a temper tantrum because she didn’t want to go - and I could hardly hear it. If I was asleep - forget it. Save your money. Avent worked on cool features, which are great, but in my opinion they need to work on the basic “you can hear your baby” feature.

At first (as a tech-geek) I thought I needed to have a video monitor for my new (first) baby. I took the “of course I need that” approach, but decided to read through a bunch of review sites (including Amazon) to see what other parents were buying. I am glad I chose this one instead of paying a ton for the video monitor.
The sound quality of this monitor is spectacular. I hear absolutely NO interference with anything. I have a wireless G network, two cell phones, and two cordless phones (1 is 2.4ghz; 1 is 900mhz) in my house. The range is also spectacular inside my house, I have yet to hear even a crackle of static or noise. I really like that it has music built in, actually very soothing for my son while we rock him in our glider (however, there aren’t many songs so you hear the same songs quite often). I also love the fact that I can tell the temperature in his room to make sure it’s not too hot/cold. The light on it is not very helpful.
The downside I’ve found so far is that the battery life on the monitor is pretty short, so I find myself keeping it on the charging base quite often. Other than that, we love this product. The only other thing I’d like to see is the ability to turn on the music from the remote monitor, but not a big deal.
Oh and one last feature my wife and I love is that it is also a 2-way intercom, so when one of us is in the nursery with the baby we can talk to the other person and they can talk back. Great when we need something from downstairs while rocking the baby.

This monitor works so well. It works so well that you can hear our child breathing at night but, there is NEVER any static!!
