  I’m really happy with this monitor. The volume is louder than other monitors I’ve tried (which I need, I’m a sound sleeper), there’s no interference at all, there’s no guessing when the battery is going to die as with some rechargables (I accidentally left the monitor unplugged and on for 14 straight hours and the battery’s still good!), it’s working just great. The only thing though, is sometimes the sound quality will get a little fuzzy around the same time most nights, and my daughter sounds possessed when it does this (her goo’s turn into growls). It’s not a big deal though, if I turn off her end and turn it back on it clears right up again. I highly recommend this monitor.

  This is the worst product. Do not waste you money on this. The lowest volume setting is ear splitting, and the tinny noise coming out of it will drive you crazy! Do not buy.

  I don’t write a lot of reviews, but felt this recommendation was warranted.

  I have used both the older version of this (the silver one that’s not rounded at the top), and this one. The first one worked for about a year and a half… It required a replacement battery after a year, that Summer sent me for free.

  I value my privacy very much. I am not one to have the analog baby monitors since every neighbor within a block can listen to you talk on the phone, talk to your spouse, etc. The digital baby monitors were always the way to go for me.

  I was fairly impressed with the first model, but could not find it in the stores any longer after mine died. At the time is was purchased, there were virtually no ‘privacy’ baby monitors available. Fisher Price –or maybe is was Graco… I can’t remember, manufactured a misleading one called Privacy Connections that supposedly gave you the inference it was secure, but all they did was add a few more analog channels, that can still be picked up by baby monitors and scanners.

  However, about 2 months ago, I was looking for a replacement and saw that many other companies offered digital baby monitors now… one of them even saying it goes 2000 ft. Wow, I thought my choices were numerous. Sadly, after trying about 4 different ones, I found nothing worked. I have a regular brick house, with the baby’s room about 20-30 feet from the monitor at any one time. NONE of the Gracos, Fisher Prices, or any other brands I tried at B*bies-R-Us worked. I would get static, ‘unable to connect’ and other issues. I was in shock. It wasn’t like I was living in a two story, 5000 sq ft house or had any other 2.4ghz or 900Mhz devices in operation… I don’t. We’re talking 20-30 feet with no other similar devices around!!!

  After searching some other stores, I came across the new version of this Summer monitor. It worked perfectly. I did not say it was ideal, but it performed without static or dropouts. That’s what I wanted… something that would work and give me some privacy. That said, here’s the PROS and CONS:

  PROS:

  * Worked out of the box
  * Long range, not affected by brick, walls, or furniture in the way
  * Digital transmission for privacy
  * Great customer service if you ever need it
  * Price was pretty good compared to most other brands

  CONS:

  * No rechargeable battery included like previous model. Use your own or use alkaline.
  * Feels very light… almost cheap
  * On lowest volume setting, it’s still a little loud
  * Any adjustment to volume on parent monitor has loud response beeps (although this is solved by simply placing your hand over the speaker when adjusting volume.)

  That said, I feel this isn’t a perfect model feature-wise, but it does work perfectly. I would recommend this for those who want a medium to low price point, private baby monitor without a lot of frills.

  I received this as a shower gift. The AC adaptor to the parent unit did not work - since the unit could not be plugged in, it had to run on batteries constantly. The batteries lasted only about 2 hours, after which the parent unit sounded an annoying low battery alarm until it was turned off or batteries replaced. I did not have a receipt and expected to be unable to return the unit, but to my surprise Summer Infant agreed to send a new unit and a pre-paid shipping label to send back the defective one. The phone call to customer service took less than 2 minutes. Amazing - and much appreciated when you are trying to care for a newborn. So - I give it one star since it was defective right out of the box, but I must admit that they have the best customer service I’ve ever experienced.

  I would do more research about other products before recommending this product to others. Works for our needs and is nice to have the battery option and walk within reason of the receiver.

  We purchased this digital monitor to avoid picking up all the other kids in the neighborhood. It works great–unless you want to use a wireless router at the same time. I called the manufacturer and they said they know some people are having an issue with wireless router interference but they didn’t have a fix. They suggested we return the product.

  Product is very well made. Small screen is large enough to see what needs to be seen. Audio levels are very good.

  Only concern would be that it does interfere with my home WIFI (as opposed to other reviewers) since it is running at 2.4 GHz. Video/Audio remains super clear, however computer internet connections are compromised.

  I bought this baby monitor because it received mostly decent reviews here and at Babies ‘R Us. However, this monitor was busted before it was fully unpacked! The screws that hold the power adapter together were stripped out of their holes the first time the adapter was removed from a socket. This wasn’t a manufacturing defects, it was a design flaw. No matter how good the rest of the components may be, as a system this monitor is useless, so don’t waste your time or money on it.

  Overall, this monitor works really well and gets the job done. The picture quality is good, although it is black and white. It is easy to use and gives us the freedom to do household chores while keeping an eye on the baby. I did however just read the other reviews. We have a wireless router and have had our internet go in and out. We just switched to another internet provider hoping that would solve the problem not knowing it was the interference with the monitor. Great buy if you don’t have a router!

  We’ve had three video monitors in our possession. This monitor is the worst yet. We had to contact Summer three times to have it replaced due to problems. Customer Service has refused to give our money back and instead ships us a new monitor- it fails to work each time. I would not waste money on this monitor. Any other brand digital video monitor has to be better.

  I got this monitor as a baby shower gift and I loved it! Never had any problems with it. We have taken it on vacation with us many times (since we would all have to share a room) & was surprised how far we could go and still hear our little one. Not that we would venture too far….still, you can hear every peep and breath that your child takes. Highly recommend it.

  I received this monitor as a gift. The first one I got didn’t even work so I had to call the company to get a replacement- not a big deal and they made it quite easy. However, I wish I’d just gotten a completely different monitor. I have never been able to hear/get signal outside (and I don’t live in a big house) and now even though the monitor shows that it’s working (lights on) I will hear my son crying, but not hear him over the monitor. Nice! SO now I have to bang the unit, turn it on and off several times before we go to bed just to make sure I can hear something. I’m fed up and looking at a new one.

  We’ve been using this monitor for 9 months now, it is usable, but I would definately NOT buy it again. I wanted a monitor that would still work if the power went out in the middle of the night.. The child’s unit has both a removeable AC adapter and a place for alkaline batteries, but even if it’s plugged in, it will drain the batteries before it goes to the outlet’s power. The parent unit still works with it’s rechargeable battery (which actually lasts a long time on it’s own). But it seems the static has gotten louder over time. And often it will click out for a few seconds at a time, then click back in. (it reminds me of popcorn.) But mine doesn’t go out of signal and beep very often at all, maybe 4 times the whole time we’ve had it. (and we live in a 2 story house.) But the volume is very annoying, there is no low setting. You have loud and extra loud, which makes it hard to sleep close to. I try to muffle it by putting a sock around the speaker. So DON’T BUY this monitor, way too many negatives to balance out the positives.

  I see lots of people with the SAME problem I have had, so it apparently isn’t a freak issue.

  I bought this monitor because ones we’ve used in the past have had a lot of static and have picked up the neighbor’s children.

  This one worked great at first, but after a month of use it started having lapses, little hiccups, shall we say. Then it started letting out a shrill beep for no apparent reason. Going right back to normal use. Lovely inthe middle of the night. But, the really insidious problem that made me return it was when it stopped working, but yet LOOKED like it was working. Green light on, soft white noise coming from the unit, but that was not what was going on in the baby’s room! My poor boy might have cried all night and I wouldn’t have known.

  I have to say, PASS ON THIS MONITOR!

  I’ve had the same experience as a lot of others. My monitor worked fairly well for several months- though without very good range. Now all the sudden, it shows that it’s working without actually picking up anything. It’s just started not recognizing that the unit in the baby’s room is on. I have to turn it on and off over and over before finally getting anything. I’m also looking for another monitor and will get one today. Please don’t waste you time and money!

  The monitor works well but sometimes picks up other signals. Just move it a little and it improves though.

  I purchased these units believing they would allow the monitoring of a very ill family member during the night. The constant popping and buzzing has rendered them close to useless as that alone keep everyone awake. The flashing constantly of the bright led’s makes your room feel like a dance hall with flashing strobes
