Our monitor officially stopped working 2 days ago. We will replace it with another brand, b/c we find it very reassuring to see the baby at night and check on him w/o opening the bedroom door. The monitor’s plug is a huge and bulky square that gets hot when plugged in. The plug seems to be the reason the monitor is not working because when we adjust it and hold it into the outlet the picture appears for short bursts of time. However, once it is let go, the unit is out again. I was surprised it only worked for a little over a year. I would not recommend purchasing an expensive product like this only to have to replace it in a short period of time. Also, the heat from the plug seems dangerous.

I like the idea of this camera, but it has to be very close to your child at night to be able to see anything. we wanted to use it to make sure a 12-18 mo old was ok at night and not crawling out of bed, can not put it close enough to see her.

This item was a replacement for another product. It created so much static and buzzing that we couldn’t hear our son at all (even when it was plugged into a socket without any other appliance). We heard him crying down the hallway before we heard anything through the monitor. I went out tonight and bought a different one (Fisher Price - Private Connection Monitor and LOVE IT) and I am returning this one, it is terrible and certainly not quiet. The price was good but not worth it for something that doesn’t do it’s job!

I bought this for our handicapped son. I wanted to hear him if he needed me during the night. It has worked great. I’ve had no problems at all. I’m very pleased with it.

This product was unreliable from the start. We were able to use it for about 1 year, though we always had to turn it on and off a few times before it received properly. Now, it hardly ever works. It’s a cheaply made, crappy product.

I just got off of the phone with Safety 1st moments ago. I have this baby monitor and was pretty happy with it for the first year or so. The warranty is only good for one year and now I know why. We were very careful with this monitor and after 2 years, the picture is horrible. There is a huge bar running right across the image so you can’t see anything at all. I called the company and they informed me that if it is past 1.5 years, I am out of luck. They even claimed that they no longer have the monitor part in stock. I am now completely unsatisfied with this product and with Safety 1st in general. They will not stand by their product when it becomes defective and it’s as if the part was programmed to stop working when the warranty is up. Don’t make the same mistake that I did, this is an expensive product and not worth the money if you can’t hand it down or sell to someone else when you are done with it.

It seems that with monitors, you do get what you pay for. We bought a cheapie monitor from Target for $17.00 and it was TERRIBLE. The interference was so awful that to get it up to a level where you could hear what was happening in the room, it would be so loud with static and beeping that you couldn’t sleep.

This monitor is vastly superior. Sound is crystal clear. The only issue I have with it is that the parent unit doesn’t stand up very well, and therefore takes up more room on the nightstand than it should. But other than that, we love it!

The pros: The temperature reading is nice. We have a tri-level home and each floor is a different temperature. With this, I can make sure the baby’s room isn’t overheated. I like the lights which act as a visual cue to tell you baby is crying. So if you have the volume down low, you can still tell when something is wrong as the lights flare up. With the volume up, I could hear the baby loud and clear. I could even hear him breathing sometimes. (He is a loud breather though.)

The Cons: Eats up batteries and I didn’t know the batteries were low until I could hear the baby cry yet no sound was coming out of the monitor. We taken to only plugging it in. When we do plug it in, sometimes there are lots of static and interference. I noticed that it always makes a buzzing noise when it shares a plug with another appliance. When it gets its own plug, the buzzing noise disappears. Also if the base unit ever gets turned off while the receiver units are still on, get ready for very LOUD static.

The So-so: The “glow” feature was kind of useless to me. Never needed it.

In summary, we got this because it was so cheap, and I guess for the money it does what it is supposed to. I’ve been happy with it, but with all the cons, I could only give it three stars.
