  I LOVE the MOVEMENT SENSOR aspect of this monitor. I have used 2 of these (one in the crib for nighttime sleeping and one in the playpen for daytime naps) and they work GREAT at detecting when there is no movement/breathing. I used these with both my kids, up until they were both 2 years old and moved to big boy beds.

  I only have two complaints. One is that I wish they would improve the monitors so that there is less interference/static, and more channels. With these monitors, you get lots of feedback and can even pick-up neighbors’ babies (if they are using similar monitors). This means that the neighbors can also hear you and your baby. In fact, I always used Channel B because I kept picking up neighbors’ babies on Channel A. My second complaint is I wish they would make the sensor that goes under the mattress bigger so that it covers more of the sleep area to prevent false alarms.

  My workaround solution is that I also own 2 other monitors … one with video and one with a greater frequency and less static (that I used in conjunction with this one) and carry around the house.

  This monitor allowed me to get much needed rest and things done around the house without having to check the baby every 2 minutes to make sure he was still breathing. I wish more manufacturers would add the movement detection feature to their monitors.

  Despite some of this monitor’s shortcomings, I still HIGHLY recommend it. Worth EVERY penny for that piece of mind. If you buy more than one set, the monitors are interchangeable and work together nicely. In addition, it is small and easy to carry along with you when you travel. So, you can use it on vacations or when you are away from home, to monitor your baby for added peace of mind.

  **PLEASE NOTE: You will need MASONITE BOARD, or some other hard board to place under the crib mattress for the movement sensor to sit on. With the playpen (because it had a hard bottom), I didn’t need to use anything. I could just place the movement sensor directly under the pad.**

  My friend, who had three children had a 5 month old die of SIDS. She never smoked, she didn’t bedshare, the baby just died in his sleep. It was very very devastating.

  I couldn’t help wondering if this monitor can help prevent SIDS. I used it for my son for 2 years and it gave me such peace of mind. It did go off a few times, and of course, I ran in and checked and he was fine.

  I am pregnant again and cannot imagine using any other monitor. I was so paranoid about him dieing of SIDS. You can take this monitor everywhere as long as you put it over a flat board.

  We are on our second bebesounds monitor and it’s great when it’s working properly. Our first one worked great until the baby turned about 4-5 months and now it gives us false alarms every night. It will either beep just once every half hour or it will beep for about 7 seconds every hour. It’s very irritating because we followed ALL of the directions and no matter what we have it set on it doesn’t work properly. When it does this our daughter is laying directly on the sensor pad and everything. If you get one that works this is the best monitor ever but if you have any trouble forget it. This company has no website or anywhere to find help so that makes me think they are a little shady.

  I love this monitor!! Everyone should have one, it is a must have. I think it is just as essential as a crib or diapers or clothes. I did not put my daughter to sleep in her own room by herself without it. I know I would not get half as much sleep as I do without it.

  First of all, there are false alarms. Or perhaps they are not false at all and the baby has indeed forgotten to breathe - either way, I will never have to know. That, to me, is worth the cost 100 times over! After 10 seconds of no movement, the monitor beeps and if there are 10 more seconds of no movement, an alarm goes off. It also goes off in the babys’ room but it is not ever ridiculous or loud enough to wake her. People say the alarm is super loud - it is equivalent to an alarm clock. And the sound quality is superb. I hear as much as I want or as little as I want.

  I can’t believe that some people can’t be bothered with the “false” alarms. When ours goes off, I usually think that it was time to check on the baby anyway. This monitor allows me the peace of mind to sleep so deeply, perhaps a little too deeply so when it goes off, I don’t mind checking on the baby.

  Our daughter recently had a cold and the pediatrician suggested we prop up one side of her mattress with a pillow for congestion. I was upset because I thought we wouldn’t be able to use the monitor and I didn’t buy it to not use it. But it still worked!! We tweaked the sensitivity (which is adjustable) and just scooted the sensor pad to the opposite side of the crib as the pillow and viola! I was thrilled because when the baby is sick is a time of extra need, when you would want to rely on the monitor the most and it came through for us. I didn’t think it was possible, but I loved it even more after that.

  If you are even considering this product, and you must be if you’re reading reviews on it, just get it. It pays for itself over and over again in the way of peace of mind. It is more important than exersaucer or baby swing or play yard - it could mean your childs’ life. I think SIDS would be nonexistent if everybody made room in their budget for one of these.

  When I heard about this, I had to have it. I was worried that it wouldn’t work as well as people had said, but it does! This product has allowed me to get a good night sleep. The one time it has gone off, my daughter wasn’t breathing, but we sturred her and she started again. This saved her life. The reason that I gave it a four is because the monitors are not very good. They have a lot of static and are not clear. What I did was get a set of monitors and I put one in the nursery with the baby, one in my bedroom, and one to carry around the house. This works great and the peace of mind is priceless.

  Originally I didn’t think it would be necessary to have a monitor that senses the child is breathing … now I’m convinced I couldn’t live without it! It just gives us the piece of mind that our baby is still breathing … we were even able to use it when we had to prop up her mattress when she had a nasty cold. We have had a few “false alarms”, but not that many (and we might have had a real alarm, it was tough to tell). Either way very pleased with the product. We do seem to hear some static sometimes in one of the receivers, but it seems to be due to other electrical equipment in the area (however it is a bit random). Any which way not a big bother, very happy. I suppose I wish the receivers were a bit easier to clip onto a belt or something, but we mostly just put it down wherever we are going to be for an extended period of time.
